Chinese Blue and White Stem Cup - Late Ming Period - c1630. Absolutely stunning Stem Cup decorated in classic themes depicting a central lotus blossom surrounded by tendrils. The inner rim of the bowl has 3 designs that resemble birds in flight.  The underside of the cup continues the design theme with petals and tendrils. On the stem base is a wave design.

This piece is best explored with a jewelers glass....the profusion of irregular bubbles in the glaze, the correct oxidation of the porcelain in areas where the glaze missed...the underside of the rim where the glaze has pooled and created a beautiful aqua / celadon color.

The foot rim has a chamfered angle with oxidation evident in the glazed underside of the stem. The cobalt underglaze is rich and vibrant. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. Diameter is 3.5" and height is 2.5". Additional detailed photos upon request.
