This quality Universal Master Cylinder with Bottom Mount Proportioning Valve Kit is ideal for mounting proportioning valve below master cylinder when mounting under floor or in confined spaces.  GM Universal / Corvette style Cast Iron 1" Bore Master Cylinder. 9/16" & 1/2" Ports on Both Sides and is an exact copy of original. Master Cylinder has a piston adapter that will allow for power or manual applications.

The proportioning  / combination valve performs the following valving functions:

Proportioning:
As more force is applied to the brakes and the car begins to lean forward, less braking force is needed in the rear.  This valve decreases the pressure to the rear, preventing lock up.

Metering:
Metering is used in the front disk brake portion in the disc/drum system to delay application of the front discs allowing the slower reacting drum brakes to catch up.  This provides rear stability on wet surfaces and helps prevent front pad wear.  There is no metering function with the disc/disc setup.

Residual Pressure:
Drum Brakes require residual pressure of 10 lbs. to be held in the line.  This pressure keeps the brake shoes close to the drums giving you a more firm pedal feel.  The disc/disc setup does not require this pressure.

System Failure Switch:
This valve has a system failure switch that will alert you when half of your braking system is not working properly.

You will also receive a Combination and Proportioning Valve Bleed Tool that is designed to replace the warning light switch (white plug) on the proportioning valve during the brake bleeding process. After the bleeding process is finished, simply remove this PVBT Tool and reinstall the warning light switch. This item makes bleeding your brake system much easier. Works with all popular non adjustable GM style combination valves. Will also work on AC Delco 172-1353, 172-1371 and many other GM proportioning-combination valves.
