Here is a wonderful battery operated toy made by Marx.  This is Buttons the Puppy with a Brain, a battery operated and lever controlled dog toy.  Made by "The Linemar Division of Louis Marx & Co, Inc." in 1961 in Japan.  This was fairly early in the Linemar production run, because most of the Linemar toys out there don't directly reference Marx on them (I think they stopped doing that after a couple of years, likely some tax or bureaucratic thing).  Anyway, the toy is lithographed tin, with a cloth "fur" covering the dog itself, and red plastic buttons on the various levers.  The dog is missing the cloth tail, but otherwise the toy looks complete.  Will need some attention, though.  There is some rust damage to the lithgraphy (you can see it mostly in the closeup pictures).  Some of the levers are in the down position, which tells me that springs or such inside likely need to be tightened up or replaced.  Battery box looks pretty clean, but I did not have any D cells to put it to test it, so to be safe, assume he does NOT work at the moment.  Still, a cute and desirable toy, so I am sure someone out there would like to give him a new home!  I bought this years ago thinking I would restore it, but then ended up with a boxed one in another deal.  Basically selling it for what I paid for it about 20 years ago, as I don't think this is a project I will ever get to!  Photos from many angles, so you can get a good idea of the condition of the toy.  I put a penny and a yardstick in most of the shots for size reference; the toy measures about 12 inches high, 8 1/2 inches deep, and 7 inches wide.  Priced to sell, with only actual shipping on the 4 pound package charged to the winner (I give you a couple of shipping options, so you can choose what works out best for YOU).
