THE PASTEUR OF GERMANY

Robert Koch was the discoverer of the specific causative agents of deadly infectious diseases including tuberculosis, cholera, and anthrax, and is regarded with Louis Pasteur as one of the two main founders of modern bacteriology.

He appears on numerous world stamps but only on this one Third Reich stamp issued late in the war (1944). As the recipient of the Knight Grand Cross in the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle in1890 and the Nobel Prize in 1905, the Nazis considered him an example of German genius and superiority.

This is a very scarce sheet with the original selvedge on 3 sides (sheet of 25) or 4 sides (sheet of 50). It remains in mint never hinged fully gummed condition.  May have a very light pencil number in corner (easily erasable with an art gum eraser). Very minimal separation is possible due to size (will not show in sleeve).

Exceptional value at a mere $1.99 per stamp!  No others on eBay.
