Beautiful antique enameled jewelry or casket box with domed panels decorated with images of birds atop flowering branches. The interior is lined with tufted burgundy silk. Similar in style to French enameled jewelry boxes, but this one was outfitted with a Lador Switzerland music box mechanism (does not work).

CONDITION:
Box - GOOD
Musical Function - NOT WORKING
(Poor-->Fair-->Good-->Very Good-->Excellent-->Mint):
Winding mechanism on music box does not work - ratchet will not turn at all. Inner mechanism is dirty and needs to be cleaned. Box itself is in good condition, but enameling shows light to moderate losses, particularly on top panel. Tufted interior is in good condition with some light staining on one corner.

DATE: Unknown. Lador Switzerland dates to the 1880s, but I think this box is likely early to mid 20th century.

MARKINGS: Lador Switzerland marked on music box mechanism

I aim to please, and describe every item to the best of my ability. But please note that my vintage items often received frequent use back in their day, so may show visible signs of wear and age. Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way, as I treasure those marks of the past.
