Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee occurs when the cartilage in the knee joint breaks down, causing the bones to rub together. This friction makes the knee hurt, feel stiff and often become swollen. OA of the knee cannot be cured, however one of the best treatments is an unloading OA knee brace.

Medial Unloading Knee Brace The CK-OA-1851 applies corrective forces by means of a three-point pressure system, which distributes the weight load away from the damaged compartment and onto the healthy compartment. The hinge pushes inward (from the lateral side) in order to open the medial side of the joint, reduce pressure, and ultimately pain.	Four Adjustable Straps To secure OA brace to your leg. Each one is very long to accommodate even the largest of leg sizes. They have Velcro straps on both ends for adjustment and can even be cut to size once you are comfortable (however, the brace cannot be returned after this alteration).	Assortment of ROM Stops Several ROM Flexion/Extension Stops are included to adjust the allowed angles of flexion or extension of the brace. It is fully customizable! Do what you NEED with it!	Tools! We have included for your convenience, a screwdriver and an ergonomic allen wrench/hex key. [#1] Align To Begin: Loosen each strap from the front buckles Put on the brace Make sure hinge lines up with center of the kneecap	[#2] Tighten Starting from the top strap: Thread straps through brace (if not already) and only tight enough to hold it on Still make sure the hinge is aligned with the knee center (very important) Do not tighten the straps fully just yet	[#3] Break In Making sure that the hinge is still aligned with the knee center, further tighten the straps. Tips for tightening: You DO want the brace snug enough so that it doesn't slide around You DO NOT want the brace so tight it can't flex and do its job. You DO NOT want the brace so tight that it is uncomfortable. The straps are not meant for excess force. After you have successfully applied the CK-OA-1851 to your knee, feel completely free to walk around anywhere you normally would. Depending on how tight your pants are, some of your more loose-fitting garments will not look as odd or with a large bulge around the knee (No Skinny Jeans!)	[#4] Unload Adjust the unloading action using the hex key. Using the included ergonomic hex key, alter the level of varus/valgus unloading or offloading to your own liking. [#1] Align

To Begin:

Loosen each strap from the front buckles
Put on the brace
Make sure hinge lines up with center of the kneecap

Starting from the top strap:

Thread straps through brace (if not already) and only tight enough to hold it on
Still make sure the hinge is aligned with the knee center (very important)
Do not tighten the straps fully just yet

Making sure that the hinge is still aligned with the knee center, further tighten the straps.

Tips for tightening:

You DO want the brace snug enough so that it doesn't slide around
You DO NOT want the brace so tight it can't flex and do its job.
You DO NOT want the brace so tight that it is uncomfortable. The straps are not meant for excess force.

After you have successfully applied the CK-OA-1851 to your knee, feel completely free to walk around anywhere you normally would. Depending on how tight your pants are, some of your more loose-fitting garments will not look as odd or with a large bulge around the knee (No Skinny Jeans!)
