Emulator Programming:

If you are having problems with your steering lock, this can be rectified permanently byremoving the lock and replacing it with a NEW fully programmed and tested emulator, which mimics the ESL function.

The Mercedes steering lock is a poor design and fails prematurely, due to the design, especially when the winter comes. This can leave you stranded when the car does not start after going to the gym or shopping for instance. The best way to repair this issue long term is full removal of the ESL and replace with an emulator, which is fitted in the area of the original lock however there are no moving parts to fail. The car then thinks this is the steering lock.

If you would like to replace the steering lock due to the worry of security, then we can program and supply one of these, but they are more expensive.So for the car to start, there are four pieces required to authorise the starting procedures; the key, steering lock, ignition switch and the transmission controller. Therefore if you are worried about security there are still the other layers of protection when removing the original steering lock.

The following symptoms experienced would lead to this service being required:

• Unable to turn the key when in the ignition.
• The ignition key will turn but the dash does not light up.
• The steering lock wont disengage when the key is in ignition.
• The steering lock is OFF without the key in ignition.

Please Note - How the repair service works.

You need to remove the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS) and Working Keys from car. Once removed they need to be posted to us.

All elements are tested fully on the bench prior to sending back, to ensure the key, ignition switch and new emulator are working fully together.

Upon recieving them, we will endevour to have them posted back within 24hrs along with plug and play programmed emulator.
