Prior to 1932 French Post Office training schools used current stamps overprinted with Specimen or Annule. After 1932 the system was changed so that special practice stamps were printed in the colours and values of the current available issues but were marked “Sans Valeur” i.e. “Without Value”. Collectors subsequently called these stamps “Fictifs” or “Phantom” stamps.

The Fictifs I am selling are surplus to my main collection and are all listed in the Yvert & Teller catalogue (These are the numbers I show below).
