The BIDA 5800 series, BIDA 86A-30 Two-Way Broadband Indoor Distribution Amplifier by Blonder Tongue features a 49 to 860MHz RF bandpass and a flat operating gain of 30dB. This self-contained two-way broadband indoor distribution amplifier with active return path is designed specifically for CATV and SMATV signal distribution systems which use a cable drop as a signal source.
The BIDA 86A-30 amplifier is configured for two-way operation with a passive sub-channel return path for 5 to 36MHz bandpass. The return gain is about 20dB when it is in active mode. Lower operating gains can be achieved by adjusting the variable attenuator. This model can be attenuated over a range of 10dB in the forward path and 18dB in the return path. Gain and slope controls are located on the front panel for easy set-up and adjustment. Two -30dB back-matched test points are provided to allow testing without service interruption.
In applications where input signals are too high or where greater cable equalization is necessary, this BIDA active return path amplifier can be reconfigured by using optional plug-in fixed attenuators (forward and return) and cable slope equalizers (forward) to meet particular requirements. Push-pull hybrid IC modules enable the amplifier to operate at high output levels while retaining low distortion characteristics. The aluminum chassis is designed to provide excellent heat dissipation thus allowing operation at high ambient temperatures with no degradation of performance.
The unit features a 36/49MHz split for passive return path operation. It can be re-configured to active return path operation by re-positioning 3 internal jumpers. An optional BIDA-FA plug-in fixed attenuator can be used for reducing forward and/or return gain from 1 to 20dB in 1dB steps. The amplifier is powered by means of an external 26VAC transformer, which also enables it to be remotely powered via low voltage AC wiring.
