Dastardly Chinese Peasant Lunging his Spear at
Noble Samurai Knight from Behind!

If you think this heavy metal object looks nice in the photo, wait until you see it in person. It's nothing less than the finest military art out of Asia that we've ever seen, certainly from the 19th Century and the great "restoration period".

It was created during the Meiji Era at the height of the first Sino-Japanese War and that is its very subject.  A subject portrayed so dramatically and artistically that it's hard to take your eyes off the piece.

A proud Samurai Warrior in exquisitely detailed gold ceremonial armor, a living incarnation of the Japanese fighting spirit, rides toward us - almost right off the surface! Is he oblivious to the lowly and cowardly Chinese Peasant ruthlessly lunging his spear toward him from behind, or will his own massive spear and the mighty, wildly writhing dragon devouring a tiny "monkey man" (symbol of the Chinese) save the day?  This tense drama is suspended forever in time and gold-plated bronze!

If this one doesn't get your heart rate up, you're probably "just not into" living historical art that you can cherish forever.

May be viewed in Chinatown Brooklyn (Bath Beach!)
