ORIGINAL ONE OFF WATERCOLOUR PAINTING

THIS IS NOT A PRINT!

I had a book as a child that inspired my imagination. It was called The Adventures Of Pip, by Enid blyton. The book was full of the most beautiful pen and ink illustrations of Pip interacting with wildlife. One of the wonderful things about this book was that it was fantasy with real natural history intertwined. I believe that is where my love affair with nature and pen and ink art started. That wonderful fairytale world, hidden amongst reality, created by the writer and the artist Raymond Sheppard, is something I continue to hanker after. It’s something I constantly try to recreate, yet it’s always out of reach somehow. If you look at my art account @doodyfish on Instagram, you will see that striving for fantasy in the real world is there also. So although there is a contrast between the white page and the black ink, the real contrast I seek is between the fantastic and the real
