                      Scarce Vintage Real Photo Postcard in Excellent Condition

The Ship: NZSCo liner M.V. RANGITANE (1950-1967) - 21,809 tons - was a Passenger-Cargo vessel which called at Pitcairn Island 4-5 times a year for 10 years, from February 1950 until August 1960.  In 1967, she was transferred to the NZSCo-owned Federal Line, and sold in 1968.

Service Route: England to New Zealand, via the Panama Canal. RANGITANE was one of four much-loved "RANGI" sister-ships which regularly called at Pitcairn from 1949 to 1962, the others being RANGITIKI, RANGITOTO, and RANGITATA. Many lasting friendships were formed between their crews and the Pitcairn Islanders.

The (RPPC) Postcard: is in excellent used condition, and franked with a 6d King George VI stamp for postcards mailed to England (and British Commonwealth destinations).  It has no visible marks or blemishes. It was written on 20 April 1955, as "RANGITANE" prepared to call at Pitcairn, en route from Wellington, New Zealand, to England, via the Canal. She arrived at Pitcairn the following day.

The postcard was in the mailbags taken out to the M.V. TAMAROA, which stopped at Pitcairn on 24 April, en route to England.

Condition: Clean, and very collectable Real Photo Company post card.  NO tears,  NO rips, NO foxing, NO discolorations, NO wrinkles, and NO yellowing, with tiny bends at the corner tips. Sharp edges. Really Fine to Excellent condition for vintage official Company postcard (See images)
