Robinson Crusoe's Father--Charles T. Greene-WILLIAMSBURGH SAVINGS BANK, BROOKLYN |
This is an usual book entitled "Robinson Crusoe's Father: The Projector of Savings Banks" by Charles T. Greene. Published by The Williamsburgh Savings Bank, Brooklyn, New York, 1910. This small softcover book points to Daniel Defoe as having advocated for the establishment of "pension offices" to help people avoid pauperism. These"pension offices" were the forerunners of modern savings institutions. This softcover book was distributed by the Williamsburgh Savings Bank to promote Savings as a means of building wealth and avoiding financial hardship as they age. The book is clean and complete, but there are a few loose, but present pages in the center of the book. Book had been bound into a soft, flexible leather binding, but has completely separated from the covers. Covers are chipped around the edges. I will call the book Fair to Good, but it remains a sound, usable copy.
Measures 6 3/8 x 9 1/4. I have not been able to locate any other ORIGINAL copies of this book in all of my internet searches. While many contemporary reprints are available, original copies are simply not available. I will offer this original copy for only $25.00 plus $4.00 S&H in the US.
