Antique Victorian Women’s Shoes Dr. A. Reed John Ebberts Buffalo N.Y. 1901 Boots.

Found in a steamer trunk, at a Beacon Hill Boston Massachusetts Estate Sale some years ago, is this wonderful pair of black Dr. A. Reed Women’s cushion shoes. These shoes date circa 1901. They were coined “The Easiest Shoe On Earth” and sold by John Ebberts Shoe Co. Buffalo N. Y. .

Inside each shoe is stamped 5-A (which I believe to be the size), with 58760 312 (see pics).

They still have the beautiful silk label inside in perfect condition and vibrant color. (See Pics)

I have not cleaned or polished these in any way , you are looking at original antique condition. Amazingly the black leather is still soft and subtle and would greatly benefit from a polishing. The worst wear on these shoes is behind the tongues of the shoe where the white cloth lining has ripped (please see pics), you can also see a little color loss on the leather inside of the lace rivets (see pics).

These shoes are true antique survivors. They will greatly benefit from a cleaning and polishing. In my opinion they could still be worn today as a movie prop, fashion statement, steam punk, or costume.

They would also be a focal point in any room or collection on display. The silk tag inside with all the dates, slogan, and information is truly the money shot. Looking for a new home and a lovely gal to once again adorn “The Easiest Shoe On Earth”!
