FEATURED: A wonderful length of Mid Century vintage cotton Barkcloth, with large summer bouquets of colorful flowers, fruits, nuts and foliage everywhere across this vibrant cheerful fabric, designed by a staff designer at 5th AVENUE DESIGNS, INC., using his/her love for summer colors in a garden, and adding stylized fruits, whole nuts and berries for added interest. Who doesn't love a summer garden that lasts forever, which this will, and that it's cotton Barkcloth, made in America during the golden 'Barkcloth' era, when it seemed that every home in the US had Barkcloth in the home. We just loved the cheerfulness of this design, its red pinks, reds, blues, soft greens, and orange shades, and the selection of great flowers used here. If this doesn't brighten up a room, we think nothing will. We don't think this originally was a curtain, as it's finished on all four sides equally, and must note that there is an odd, very small rectangular cut out found in the middle. on one end of the fabric ( see the last two photos for this)- we have no idea what that was all about, as it was neatly done and nothing around it appears to have issues, but it must be noted. We do feel that could be patched and with all the colors and many flowers blooming everywhere, it is almost not noticeable, but....We also think this was washed previously, but minimally as the colors are still so good and images still so crisp and lovely. We could imagine this being used as a tablecloth, just as it is, or re-imagined into large pillows, a duvet cover, headboard, shower curtain, or great in creating those large carry-all bags & packs everyone wants these days! You get to decide what will become of this wonderful length of a summer's garden blooms, and we can't wait to see the creative results!
MEASURES: 45 inches wide, 94 inches long, including the section with the odd tiny cut out. On the selvage is stamped the manufacturer, 5th Avenue Designs, out of NYC, and made in the USA of cotton Barkcloth. Barkcloth is an amazing fabric that 'wears like iron', is washable and wonderful to work with, and just goes on forever, getting softer and more mellow as it washes and ages. No wonder it is so hotly collected today- once you've had Barkcloth in your life, you are a Barkie forever! The possibilities with this beautiful garden of flowers & fruits is endless, with you as the gardener and artist!
