Pair of Tiffin Dakota Apothecary Jars

Globe shaped footed and lidded jar. Molded thumbprints on lid, rim and above the round foot; diamonds on the neck of jar. The original use of this jar was displaying samples of liquids, including oil for the petroleum trade. Produced in various sizes, this one is unusually large. Early American pattern glass, introduced in 1887. Ripley and Company operated from 1875-1891.
