I am a textile designer and I have restored the lace quite extensively. As seen in the photos, due to its age, the lace is very fragile and has micro-tears at a few places throughout the garment. I have completed a restoration close to the hemline, where the previous owner had perhaps caught it with her heel.

I am offering this garment with full disclosure: this 1950s lace is fragile and prone to tears. It does not have the stretch commonly found in today's lace; it has more of a dry, paper handfeel. I have imperceptibly repaired some of the tears but not all of them. This item is best suited to a textile or fashion enthusiast who has the ability to mend any remaining micro tears, or who is willing to wear this piece knowing that its slight imperfections make it so much more beautiful.
