Brass Re-bar. 3/8" x 1/8"  x 6ft long solid brass bar. (2 x 3ft)This can be soldered directly to a stained glass panel for added strength. This is an alternative to fitting copper tie wires and circular saddle bars and eliminates the vast majority of on site work. ie; No drilling for saddle bar fitting and no risk or breakage to glass or copper tie wires when tensioning and twisting around bar.
Bars can be cut easily with a hack saw to the width of the leaded panel and notched into the beads. Alternatively the ends of the bar can be easily curved on a grinder at the panel edges to give a pleasing arched appearance
The brass bar can be bent to a variety of shapes, thereby following the design of the lead lines in many cases.
It can be treated with black patina so that it becomes virtually un-noticeable when fitted.
Patina needs to be applied and left to infuse on brass surface for best results
Bars are 6 foot long but will be split in half for transport. (Greater than 1m length packages greatly increase postage)
We can cut into other sizes on request. Max 2 cuts per 6ft length
We cannot guarantee accurate cut sizes so we would always recommend that bars are ordered oversized and trimmed by yourself.
6 ft LENGTHS CAN BE SENT BY SPECIAL REQUEST BUT WILL INCUR ADDITIONAL POSTAL CHARGES

Pictures show the positioning of re-bars yet to be soldered onto a panel and a finished door panel with a bar in place. As shown, when soldered flush to a leaded panel the 3/8" wide bar is less obtrusive than a standard saddle bar and tie wires and is visually less perceptible. Bars can also be soldered together to form a cage style strengthening structure at the back of a panel if required
