Louis Buhl & Co. is pleased to present a limited edition set of four prints with Detroit-based artist Beverly Fishman, Untitled (Panic Disorder, Osteoporosis). This edition merges the artist’s exploratory process in paper with the sleek finish and sheen of her recognizable reliefs. Fishman's evolving exploration of glossy, pill-shaped reliefs are created to attract immediate attention, mimicking the vigorous and persuasive tactics used by drug companies and their advertising agents.

An eagerness to solve all our problems with a prescription points to a global dilemma that resonates on an ethical, social, and emotional level for Fishman. It is by transforming the iconography of medicine and translating it into the realm of art that Fishman forces us to consider our attraction, revulsion, and dependence on Big Pharma.

Each edition is a set of four 13h x 10.5w inch prints, available in two different colorways — white and black. It is with Fishman’s introduction of a black setting that we continue to watch the artist as she experiments with hue and radiation.

"This edition is based on the handmade collages that I create in order to try out color and shape combinations for my large scale polychrome reliefs. The shapes are based on pharmaceuticals, while the colors are derived from a variety of different color palettes, both natural and artificial." — Beverly Fishman
