                                                    ANCHOR LINE 1911-1917 

                                    VERY GOOD CONDITION POSTALLY USED

CONDITION: NO rips, tears, wrinkles, or age marks;  clean card with very light wear on corners and edges (as expected after 110 years!); ink mark at right margin. Reverse side is very clean; oxidation on 1c green Washington perforations only, but not on the postcard. Generally very fine condition, scarce.

MAILING: received 7 wavy line NEW YORK N.Y. 'C' machine postmark (20mm) of DEC 6 1912, and DEC 7 1912 transit postmark (30mm) of MASONVILLE, N.J. - BOTH FINE AND CLEAR POSTMARKS.

CAMERONIA 1911 - 10,963 TONS
CAMERONIA was the largest (515 ft. long, 62ft. beam) of the four twin-screw steamships built by Henderson Brothers, Glasgow, for Anchor Line from 1902 to 1911. Like her sister ships, she operated on the Glasgow to New York route, via Londonderry, Ireland.

In 1911, Anchor Line was taken over by the Cunard Company, but her ships independently continued service for the new company, Anchor Line, Ltd.

CAMERONIA was refitted as a troopship for the British Royal Navy in January 1917, for service in the Mediterranean. She was torpedoed on 15 April 1917, 150 miles east of Malta, and sank in 40 minutes with the loss of 129 souls.
