In 1872 the Cavalry Board adopted these leather braces to support the trooper's load.  Reports from the field were universally negative, and it seems likely these braces saw very little actual use in the field.  Originals are extremely scarce, so we have made these reproduction to complete collections and displays of 1870's equipments.

The front straps attach to loops on the 1872 Cavalry Belt.

The sling hook for carrying the carbine IS NOT included.
