What is Giclee:
In its most basic definition, giclée is a French term for “to spray” or “to squirt”. It references the process that an inkjet printer uses to reproduce fine art. To uphold the quality of a true giclée, the resolution must be at least 300 dots per inch (DPI)
Papers used for printing are of archival quality coated paper, and printed with pigment based archival inks, which are UV stable. All of this means that the print will be retain its quality for the lifetime of the artist, the buyer and beyond for 100+ years
Files used for my Giclee prints are scaled up to the correct image size, and so high resolution to achieve the required 300 DPI
Printed on:
A3: Hahnemühle German Etching 310 gsm.
German Etching – a white, 100% α-cellulose paper – guarantees archival standards. The mould-made etching paper features a distinct textured surface. With its premium matt inkjet coating German Etching meets the highest industry standards regarding density, colour gamut, colour graduation and image sharpness while preserving the special touch and feel of genuine art paper. Compatible with pigmented and dye inkjet systems.
"heavyweight paper has a slightly warm base tone with strong colours and deep blacks that feel rich and high in contrast. This is due to the texture of the paper enabling it to hold more ink and capture the light. The German Etching is one of the heavier weight Giclée art printing papers. With its weight and strong texture this paper gives an artwork a handmade crafted feel. Hahnemühle German Etching is a robust paper, meaning it doesn't tend to fray as much at the edges. Matt finish.

About Me:
Experienced artist with many sales on different outlets, specialising in Oil portraits.
I studied at North Warwickshire college of art, in the eighties.
Painting portraits is one of the most challenging but rewarding processes you can undertake.
The trick is to retain a painterly look and produce a piece that is both a good 'painting' which is interesting to look at the for composition, brush strokes, AND still retain the likeness, and even hopefully, capture the very essence of who they are and what their work has meant to you over the many years.
