Représentant Adolphe Alphand tenant un œuf dont sort Gustave Eiffel.

Satire évoquant la polémique autour de la tour Eiffel lors de l'exposition universelle de Paris en 1889.

Adolphe Alphand était le directeur général des travaux de l'exposition universelle.

"Son aura lui permettra notamment de tenir tête aux puissants détracteurs de la tour Eiffel, dont il voulait faire le « clou » de l'Exposition universelle de 1889".

Adolphe Alphand (1817-1891) était ingénieur des ponts et chaussées,

il a participé avec Haussmann à donner un nouveau visage à la ville de Paris en créant des espaces verts, dont notamment les Buttes Chaumont.
