Absolutely stunning 1890s Victorian Leg O Mutton bodice in pretty lovely antique condition, but definitely in need of careful repair or restoration. Although without it, it's still an absolutely stunning display piece. While I generally repair most items that warrant it, I definitely do not feel like my skills are up to snuff with a piece of this age and quality. As pictured, there are several areas where the silk taffeta has split: on the back side just to the right of the closure panel there's there's an 8 inch split starting at the collar. There's also a smaller split at the back right side. The right sleeve and shoulder area, and the lower right side is ridden with splits as well. Also pictured, the velvet at the left shoulder has a tear and has separated at the collar, and there's a series of small frays/holes in the velvet on the left sleeve as well.

No tags, labels, or maker's mark present. Even with its flaws, this bodice is absolutely stunning. Oversized Leg O Mutton sleeves with tons of pintuck pleat detailing, thick, lush gathered velvet at the elbows, and tapered, horizontal pintuck pleated forearms. Absolutely gorgeous ruffled taffeta trim and florets throughout. 13 Hook & eyelet closures down the back, with chunkier hooks that would have clipped the skirt into place. Cotton lined inside with 9 stays.
