Before scanners and digital cameras, and before the decline and disappearance of many railroads that served this country, Dave Augsburger began to record the ever changing railroad industry. This book is a compilation of one of those vanished railroads: the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Dave did some black & white photography in the late 1950's but by early 1960 he had switched to color. Employed by Ametek, U.S., Gauge Division, in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, his job allowed him a flexible schedule and he could take time to record a train, a locomotive or special move he had heard of.
Particularly generous with his work, Dave's photography has appeared in The Lehigh & New England - A Color Retrospect and other recent color books. His photos have graced the publications of the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society for more than a quarter century. Proudly presenting many slide shows throughout the tri-state area, the quiet and respect of the audience speaks of the appreciation for Dave's mastery and technique.
