Apple Berry

 (Billardiera sp.)

Commonly known as Sweet Apple Berry, it is a small twining vine native to Victoria and

 South Australia.

An adaptable plant, it grows best in full sunlight in a well drained moist soil. 

An attractive evergreen low maintenance plant, with edible and highly decorative fruit.

Flowers and bush tucker 

Highly decorative, cream to pink, red, to mauve to bluish-white tubular flowers. 

An asset to any garden, it produces small, creamy yellow-green pendent bells in April are followed by very long-lasting marble-sized bright blue-purple fruit.

Apple berries taste like stewed apples with a mild fruity character. 

They make a good snack right off the vine and add dramatic colour to a fruit salad. Puree and use as a spread on toast, or mix with raspberries or applesauce as a cake filling or fried & spiced, they are as tasty as eggplants or mushrooms.

You will receive 10 fresh seeds.

Seed is generally sown to the depth of the seed in well drained sterilised medium and kept moist, but not wet. 

Keep protected from excessive temperatures and inclement weather.

Apple Berry seeds respond well to smoke treatment, which also acts as a

 natural fungicide and is important for germination of this species.
