For the story of the evolution of Munger's "high quality timepieces produced by prison labor," see page 636. On the back cover, the elaborate Black Forest Trumpeter shelf clock by Emilian Wehrle & Co., ca. 1890. On page 648, the clock's 9-horn musical movement, its ornate case, and history are discussed.
