The Kestrel shape may have been non-traditional in the 1930s, but close to one hundred years later it is quaint yet still distinct. A 

very desirable collectible piece.

The 'crazing' on this piece makes the piece, in my opinion. Crazing of clear glaze ceramics, especially vintage pieces, is a natural 

phenomenon having to do with thermal changes and humidity, and to some extent user practices over time. At one time, and in 

certain designs it may be considered undesirable, but it is and has been increasingly deliberately employed by contemporary potters 

as a design element. In this case it is even and extensive and contributes an incredible patina to the piece.
