In the late 1920s and early 1930s a series of wonderfully made all cloth stockinette dolls was made representing the varied peoples of the newly formed Soviet Union. This 7" doll represents a Samoyed (Samoed) girl from Siberia in the part of the former Soviet Union that was in Asia.

She stands approximately 7 inches tall and at her widest point she is 4 1/2 inches . Her parka coat is made of cream-colored napped cotton with a red ribbon stripe at the hem. Her parka gathers around her face. Her knee-length pants are cotton and her tall boots (mukluks) are hand carved of wood and stained brown. Her body is well stuffed and her arms are cloth wrapped over wire armature. The arm wire goes straight thru her body so both of her arms move together. Her hands and face are molded stockinette. Her face is painted with skill and she wears a charming facial expression - her smile is shy and sweet! Her eyes are dark brown and her cheeks are rosy from the cold. Her hands are simple mitts of brown fabric-covered rounded wire. She is in very good condition. Without any damage or repairs other than a few spots on her face.
