Old Nuristani/Nurestani/Nooristani earrings with a thick ear wire. This pair is very well worn and one ear wire is thicker than the other; shown in photo. The thicker one is a 13G, the thinner one is a 16G. The coil accents may have been replaced at one time because they don't appear to have as much surface wear as the beads or the bud droplet do. I am not sure of the exact metal content. It may contain some silver but these have a subtle golden color, which means they more likely are made of a brass alloy. Regardless, these are a lovely example of jewelry from Eastern Afghanistan.

About 5" long. These weigh 1.8 ounces together, or 1.4 ounces each. There are surface scratches on the smooth surfaces- perhaps from an attempt at cleaning with a wire brush, or similar. They are in the same condition as I sourced them. The earrings have a very aged appearance. There is pattern wear, patina, and oxidation. Such a rare find, considering the current political climate of Afghanistan.
