“DUKW Operations” (1955) 8mm Film Home Movie, US Army Base, Amphibious, Japan +

So much great Army footage in this one. Film opens at Fort Leonard Wood with army personnel loading onto a DUK and taking it for a spin in the water. The story the moves to a stuck truck that apparently took days to get out of the embankment, but they persevered and the truck was back on solid ground. Film then takes us on a ship ride from Washington to Alaska through the Aleutian Islands to the military base in Adak. The story ends at the Tachikawa Air Base in Japan with some great scenes from the airstrip. Many thanks to the cameraman who typed up a film itinerary to go with this film.
