Stevie Ray Vaughan - "Number One" Miniature Guitar

Stevie Ray Vaughan was born in Dallas Texas on October 3rd 1954 and died tragically in a helicopter crash on August 27th 1990. He was aged only 35, and was at the height of his critical and commercial success, at the time of his death.

SRV began playing guitar at only seven years of age and he was inspired to pick up the instrument by his older brother Jimmie, who would himself find fame with his band The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Once the young Stevie decided to ditch High School in 1971 to pursue a career as a Blues artist, his place in the exclusive world of Guitar Heroes was pretty much assured. In 1977 Vaughan would form the band that would be his backing band for the rest of his life and career. That band was Double Trouble and, along with Vaughan, the line up was Chris 'Whipper' Layton on drums and Tommy Shannon on bass. Double Trouble would play with Vaughan on all his most successful recordings throughout the 80's and they were inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame in 2015.

SRV's musical style was firmly rooted in Blues and Jazz, and among his many Blues influences were artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, BB King, Buddy Guy and Howlin' Wolf. His influences from the world of Jazz included Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery and George Benson.

In 2004, fourteen years after his death, SRV's beloved 'Lenny' was auctioned in aid of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Foundation and raised a staggering $623,500 for charity.
