Many vehicles use a water pump driven by the timing belt, where this is the case DAYCO recommends replacement at the same time as per the manufacturers timing belt change regardless of when the water pump was last changed. 

Water pumps are a critical part of the vehicles cooling system, replacement is usually time consuming and expensive work, sometimes as much as 90% of the cost to change the timing belt kit, new drive components can add extra tension to already worn water pump bearings causing the water pump to leak onto the belt resulting in contamination and further failure, possibly even severe engine damage, so it makes sense to do it right the first time.
