Slant Six Camshaft Thrust Button

Designed to prevent excessive (forward) camshaft movement in the block.  This reduces timing chain wear and inaccurate timing while limiting stress on the oil pump drive gear. Made from Delrin, a high-performance engineering thermoplastic. The button is easily trimmed for the desired clearance.

On high revving and high-performance slant six engines, forward camshaft movement will increase wear at the critical oil pump drive gear.  A failure here is usually catastrophic.

This cam thrust button is specifically designed for the slant six engine where the cam gear of the timing set is attached to the camshaft with a single bolt.  The camshaft thrust button simply fits snugly over the head of the factory cam gear bolt.  The point of the button will prevent cam movement by contacting the timing cover.  You ‘limit’ cam movement by shaving the point of the button to get the desired clearance between the timing cover and the button.  The slant six timing cover is a stout piece, with built-in ribs for stiffness.  Because of this, there are no modifications needed to install and use this cam button.

Price is for one cam button, bolt/washer NOT included.
