Stunning painted and stitched Georgian silk portrait of a lady with her dog. Very rare to see dogs in these things this may have been a mourning silk dedicated to the pet and their relationship. Dates to 1830 based on newspaper articles on frame back. American origin. Original period frame, original wavy glass. 16.25” by 13”. Gilt wood frame. It’s a stunning piece of Georgian folk art memento Mori.
