Not one, but TWO mixed media collages by Spanish artist Moises Monteferro.  Both pieces are signed in the lower right corner.

These original works of art were purchased through a gallery in New York City.  Although from Spain, the artist has taken residence in New York for the past few decades.

Per his biography, Moises Monteferro (born 1963) first did abstract painting, which gave way to a series of paintings with a strong expressionist style where monochromes and nervous brush strokes were his main characteristics. From 1995, Monteferro established his studio in New York, where he still lives and works. His current works reflect human shapes, landscapes and writings concealed through abstraction, which, in his own words, "try to write poetry on a different media, canvas. In essence, I am a poet with my hands stained with oil and melancholy."

THE ORIGINAL WORKS ON PAPER FOR SALE:  The two works on paper up for sale were a part of a series of abstracted, monochromatic landscapes that Monteferro created and sold in New York.  Today, his work incorporates more color and utilizes less collage.  However, these two collages from the 1990s are striking and exceptional examples of the work Monteferro was creating as the world was entering the Millennium.

Each work is professionally framed and is floating (i.e. there is no mat) from the back of the frame.  Both frames utilize plexiglass.  Please review the photos.  Unfortunately, photographing artwork under glass is difficult, so I have photographed the pieces under different light conditions.

MEASURMENTS:  ROUGHLY -- that is within as much as an inch -- the following measurements are for each piece:

Outside of frame:  23" x 29"
Opening within frame:  19" x 25"
Artwork (floating in frame):  17" x 24"

CONDITION:  Dust and wear to the black frame.  Could use a gentle cleaning.  As for the art, in excellent condition just as it left the gallery in New York City.   No discernible fading, foxing, tears, or deterioration.  Frame, plexiglass, and backing show some signs of age and wear, but are otherwise in great condition.
