This is a stunning mid century cash money sterling silver case in original Cartier presentation box. Beautiful engine turned design with horizontal lines to the front and back of the silver case. The top exterior lid has a central monogram box with "PS" engraved. The interior has a gold wash and an amazing inscription on the inside lid. There a seven signatures from various people with a large central illustration of an old style ship with sails and a rat depicted jumping off. This clever and comical illustration was likely intended to show goodwill for a retiring colleague.  There is also a date of 5-23-47. Two spring style clips help keep cash in place for storage. One of the clips is marked "Napier Sterling". The silver case measures 6.5 inches long, 3 inches deep and 0.25 inch high. Weight of silver is 201 grams or 6.48 troy ounces.  The case appears to have been used minimally with moderate signs of use/scratches. Push button works well. Please review photos for further assessment.

Also included is an original antique presentation box from the famed jeweler Cartier. The logo is on the top exterior and on interior lid panel. The exterior color is a light cream. The interior is a light color silk material, the box edges are gold patterned. The box has signs of wear but is still in good condition - empty boxes like this are desirable and can fetch high prices for period examples. There is a black ink stain on inside lid. The box measures 7 inches long, 4 inches deep and 1 inch high and fits the sterling case perfectly.

A fantastic item due to the inscription and high quality silver, the Cartier box also elevates this piece to another level. A true gem and rare find! Check out our other antique listings.
