The Canon EF28mm f/2.8 IS USM is the world’s first*1 wide-angle single-focus lenses to incorporate an image stabilizer function, yet realize lightweight, compact body designs. It makes possible up to four shutter-speed stops*2 in image stabilization performance, enabling even more possibilities in imaging expression, particularly when using a slow shutter speed.

This lens offers an even shorter minimum focusing distance compared with its predecessor. The EF28mm f/2.8 IS USM, with a minimum focusing distance of 0.23 m, improves on the 0.3 m offered by its predecessor, the EF28mm f/2.8 (released in April 1987).

This lens employs a micro USM and high-speed CPU as well as an optimized AF algorithm delivering fast auto-focus capabilities. A full-time manual focus function enables users to make fine adjustments to focus after autofocusing. In addition, the lens incorporates a glass-mold aspherical lens element to correct for a variety of aberrations while a lens coating and optimal lens placement minimize the occurrence of ghosting and flare.
