🌸 1950's SILK HALTER ROCKABILLY DRESS

I've had this 1940's - 1950's silk dress stored away for over 25 years. I was going to make an art piece out of it & reinforce the silk or use it for photo shoots. I never got around to doing it so I'm listing it here for a museum or dress designer to use & copy the fabric or do what I was planning. It would be amazing on display & framed! It's made of all silk with an acetate backing/liner with red tulle petticoat & metal long side zipper that works well. Boned on side / along zipper. Some of the red flowers are embroidered with a puffy stuffing/ quilting fabric & rhinestones. Amazing work! Halter strap that is starting to fray. It has age stains all over but none are gigantic, it mostly is a lot of smaller & faint ones so from farther away (on display) you can't see them. They are only yellow/brown. The silk is disintegrating in places as I show in photos. But it's still sturdy in the sewing & construction. I was going to back the silk to keep it from getting worse. Someone hemmed up the inside petticoat to be 2" or so, shorter but you can let it down easily. 1 bust dart has opened up, it's not a tear but the seam thread is just gone. It's way too big for my mannequin through the bodice. Whoever originally wore this was quite the bombshell... a small 26" waist & probably a 36" bust at least! The silk is an ivory damask with red floral & a touch of green. The ivory color has probably darkened a little or become a tad yellowish from age. This needs to be restored, it's so special! A time not to be forgotten in fashion!  SOLD-AS-IS - AS DESCRIBED.

CONDITION: GOOD/FOR STUDY... needs repairs. Not wearable AS-IS. Project dress. NO ARMPIT STAINS. Metal zipper is very good & works. But It has loose seams, holes & a lot of small to medium sized stains all over here n there. Most are smallish yellowish brown age stains but they are all over, I did not ever clean this. I showed the biggest damage in photos up close. See photo of big hole in back of skirt. Needs work & restoration. SEE PHOTOS & description. SOLD - AS IS

LENGTH: 33" aprox -- SKIRT is 22.5"  from waist seam - Bodice is aprox 10.5" not including straps

HIPS: VERY FILL

    •     I take photos of all measurements for accuracy.

    •      Please ask all size & other questions before purchase. I'm happy to help. Please compare them to your items that fit.
    •      TIP: It's best to lay a clothing item you have now, that fits, down flat & measure across then compare inches to be sure it will fit. You need to be a bit smaller than the fabric to be comfortable.
 
    •    Please note my items have no bad odors but I use a natural potpourri of cedar, lavender etc to repel moths. Sensitive people might be able to smell this. It is NOT perfume.
    •    I ship items as clean as possible but some darker fabrics like velvet will have a tiny bit of lint from all of the furs & woolens I sell. I do not have pet hair anywhere near my items & there’s no smoking here at all.
    •    I attach my own stock tags to all of my items that are right in front. Please check to make sure I sent the correct item. Do not remove tags until you make sure everything is okay. Once tags are removed you can not return it no matter what.
    •    IF THERE ARE ANY PROBLEMS PLEASE CONTACT ME WITHIN 3 DAYS OF THE POST OFFICE DELIVERY DATE.
