To properly clean: 1. Empty feeder. 2. Soak in 1:10 bleach-water solution. 3. Rinse with clean water. 4. Soak in dish soap & water. 5. Rinse with clean water. 6. Allow to dry fully. 7. Refill with Nyjer seed. 8. Rehang. (Be sure to use gloves and observe careful hygiene, as bird faces can pose a health risk to human.) Alternative to cleaning: 1. Empty feeder. 2. Place entire feeder in recycling bin. 3. Hang a clean, fresh feeder. This feeder is made from plastic and can be damaged by squirrels.
