Antique Victorian c1800s Woven Wire Bustle

This is such a cool RARE piece.

A particularly beautiful antique Victorian braided iron wire bustle pad, made to create the right effect under the beautiful dresses with their enormous behinds. These wire bustles were very popular in the 1880s, they are much more comfortable to wear than their predecessors, not as heavy and much more airy, which was of course also a lot more hygienic.

Very good antique condition - considering her age. It is made of braided steel wire, staples and a twill ribbon waistband.  There is a bit of loose thread, one piece of the waistband is a bit shorter than the other, and one side of the waistband is a bit frayed.

Width of the wire base is 10.5 inches wide , depth is roughly 4 3/4 inches at the widest point.
