The Kangaroo Minted Bar has been available from the Perth Mint in previous years as a gold bar, but for the first time is now available in a new silver bar format.

Each of these new silver bars are struck between two dies by the Perth Mint to create a design that has a 3D relief. These new bars also feature .9999 pure silver content, and a table of radiating circles on the obverse to deter counterfeiting of Perth Mint products.

On the obverse of the 1 oz Australian Silver Kangaroo Minted Bar you’ll find the Perth Mint logo at the top of the design field, which features the name of “Perth Mint” above and “Australia” below the image of the swan, which is the LBMA registered mark for the mint. You’ll also find the purity, metal content, and weight of the bar on this face.

The reverse of the Australian Silver Kangaroo Minted Bar has a field of small kangaroo motifs hopping across the face of the bar. These kangaroos are arranged in diagonal rows across the bar with no other engravings or markings.

Kangaroos are the world’s largest member of the marsupial families, and they move around on powerful hind legs with aided balance from a muscular tail. The kangaroo is native to Australia, and there are four major subspecies found on the continent. This makes the kangaroo a natural choice for Perth Mint designs.

Perth Mint is located in the state of Western Australia and is a state-owned entity of the local government. Founded in 1899 as the third and final Royal Mint system under British rule, today it exists independent of the sovereign Royal Australian Mint.
