An original oil painting by Modern British listed artist Jonathan Richard Turner (1937-2022).

It depicts a student seated at a desk, very focused on drawing the skull that is placed in front.  Painted in an Expressionist style with lots of colour and texture detail.

Titled and signed verso 'Learning to Draw - (Harrow). Jonathan Turner' and and dated c.1970.  Below is another inscription which reads 'Note: 1/1/1996'.  This suggests that the artist returned to the painting at a later date and added the inscription. This fits with what is known about him, like many artists he was more focused on the creation of his work than the selling of it and he accumulated a large quantity which he kept in storage.  Much was only released recently when a large quantity was sold at auction following his death.

Painted in oils on board and in very good condition.  On very close inspection it is possible to see what seems to be a small overpainted repair top right adjacent to the mount, possibly done by the artist when he revisited the painting in the 90s. (See fourth photograph above).

It is presented in a very complementary antiqued silver gilt frame with black wood inner mount. The frame is in excellent condition.

Measures 51 x 45cm including the frame, the painting only is 30 x 36.5cm.

Postage £8 to mainland UK, £28 to mainland Europe and £54 to the USA or Canada. All other destinations with the ebay global shipping programme.
