Patrick Ryan (1934-2006), an American artist, embraced the pseudonym "Henri Plisson" as his artistic style evolved from abstract to impressionism, a shift that allowed him to navigate distinct collectors' markets. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he nurtured his childhood dream of becoming an artist, eventually earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska, Omaha, and a master's degree in fine art from the University of Southern California. His artistic journey led him to Spain, where he painted and absorbed Europe's rich art history for nearly two years. Back in the United States, he exhibited his work through the Deville Gallery in beverly Hills, attracting notable collectors like Gene KELLY, Rock Hudson, Katherine Ross, and Aaron Spelling. As "Patrick Ryan," he reached the pinnacle of his career, specializing in impressionistic oils depicting landscapes, beachscapes, and gardens.
