Stunning paisley shawl dating to the mid-19thc with the extravagant design elements. This elegant mid 1800's paisley shawl breathes with vibrance of old colors.
MEASUREMENT: The paisley shawl measures approx. 100" x 62"
CONDITION: Shawl is in good condition, unwashed, with no fading, there are a couple small holes, small tears on the edge spots, a few really well done repairs - (as shown) no stains, and no thin areas.
Newly-married woman and young mothers almost always wore such a shawl on attending their first church service after their respective happy event of marriage. For this reason these shawls come to be known as "Kirking shawls".
This piece is well preserved and worthy of collecting.
These paisley shawls make nice decorative touches in the home as well, try them for holiday buffet table, a pleasant and no fuss alternative to white linen or lace.
