History of this sculpture

This brand new Fine Art Shona tribe sculpture was imported into the USA about 20-30 years ago and was sitting in storage ever since, with other sculptures like it until we discovered this 'treasure chest'.

Florida broker, who stopped his trips to Zimbabwe after it became unsafe due to a crime rate, brought many authentic, hand-carved Shona tribe sculptures through the border. He had ties with a local gallery that, very successfully, distributed the statues for him over the years.

We acquired this storage lot and will  do our best in order to provide the world with this unique and beautiful piece of authentic African art.

It is named after the tribe of people in Zimbabwe, Africa. The sculptors receive no technical artistic training and learn about the art form from family and friends. They primarily use primitive tools such as a hammer and chisel. The themes of the sculptures generally represent everyday living in Shona society. Shona stone sculpture have become a modern movement and pieces can be found in art museums, galleries, private and public collections worldwide.

Every piece will come with it's own certificate of authenticity and care guide. The pen is not included and only there for scale.
