Here is a very handsome and harder to find piece of early Carlton Ware.  Round with a locking lid, piece measures; 4.25"H x 6"Dia.  It is decorated on the front with a crest with 4 red sections with a golden lion in each.  Maker's mark on underside, W & R Stoke on Trent Carlton Ware.  very handsome on display and very useable.
