Old BACCARAT Vintage Japanese taste Snake Lady Bud Vase CANDLE HOLDER 1878 Rare

This is an opalescent glass vase (vase / single-flower vase / vase / flower vase / interior / object / decoration / candlestick / candle) made by Old Baccarat, the best French crystal manufacturer, with a snake and insect motif.

Circa 1878.

This is a beautiful Japonisme (Japanese taste) piece, embodying the unique art of Japan, which was an unknown country at the time.

Baccarat of this period drew inspiration for its work from Japanese crafts.

The base is a mix of transparent and opalescent glass, over which the insects are enamelled and the snake and base are painted in gold, giving the piece a very three-dimensional finish with clearly visible irregularities.

This Art Nouveau period piece requires a high level of skill and taste in the gravure.

The bottom is marked BACCARAT, as is typical of Baccarat pieces of the period.

The opalescent glass piece is particularly precious amongst Old Baccarat pieces.
