“Chicago World’s Fair” (1933) 8mm Film, Gondola, Harbor, Downtown Traffic Jam +

Really great footage of the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair (actually Chicago centennial celebration from what I’ve read). Film opens on the Burnham Harbor with the gondolas built over the harbor for the event. Film goes on to capture ships in the harbor, downtown park and the downtown streets packed with people and cars.

FILM CONDITION:

Film is in good condition, ran smoothly and has no detectable vinegar syndrome. Slight twist starting on some of the film, but still ran through and autoload projector without issue.

Partial 3” reel (approximate 3.5 min)

Rough timeline:

20 sec - gondolas over the harbor

25 sec - City of New York pirate ship, blimp, other ships in harbor

15 sec - big mural with running fountain

45 sec - downtown, park
