SPEED MECHANICS: The How To Do It Magazine for Hot Rod Fans.
COVER STORY: An unusual feature about the photograph on the covér of this issue is that it was originally shot in black and white while photographing the how-to-do-it installation sequence that appears in this number. A flexichromeof Bill Schroe-der's black-and-white shot of Dick Grantham removing the stock intake manifold, was made by Harold Kelly. To cap off the twists of photographic irony, picture eight in the sequence was orig inally taken on ektachrome and re-shot as a Mack and white. All this is only part of our constant effort to give our readers the best possible stories and pictures. Dick Grantham, who had recently returned to civilian life when these pictures were made, has plans for attending a college in the West to study for a degree. To Dick, and his full-housed '48 Mere (as sweet a looking job as we've seen), we wish the best of luck.
